What exactly is permanent jewelry?
Permanent jewelry consists of high-quality chains—typically 14k gold or sterling silver—that are custom-fitted and welded directly onto your wrist, neck, or ankle. Because it is welded closed, there is no clasp, creating a seamless and 'permanent' look.
Does the welding process hurt?
Not at all! The 'spark' used to weld the jump ring is quick and painless. We use specialized equipment and protective barriers to ensure the process is completely safe and comfortable for your skin.
What if I need to remove my jewelry for a medical procedure?
If you need to remove your jewelry for an MRI or surgery, you can easily snip the jump ring with a pair of kitchen scissors or wire cutters. We recommend cutting the small ring we welded so that we can easily re-weld it for you later for a small service fee.
Will permanent jewelry set off airport security metal detectors?
No, delicate fine jewelry such as our gold and silver chains is not heavy enough to trigger metal detectors at airport security. You can travel across the globe with your Sunstone pieces without worry.
Can I add charms to my permanent chain?
Absolutely! We offer a variety of solid gold and gemstone charms that can be added at the time of your initial fitting or during a follow-up appointment to customize your look.
What is your policy on broken chains?
While permanent jewelry is designed for daily wear, it is still fine jewelry and not indestructible. If your chain breaks at the weld point within the first 30 days, we will re-weld it for free. For breaks in the chain itself or after 30 days, a small repair fee may apply.
